Hybrid models are growing in popularity, largely due to increased availability and the desire for consumers to live a more sustainable life. Ford brings new technology, including popular hybrid models, to the market each year. Here is an overview of the available Ford hybrid models and what you should know about each one.

2020 Ford Fusion

Ford is leading the conversion to electric vehicles with its 2020 Ford Fusion, which also comes in gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions. It’s a five-seat sedan that comes in seven trim levels and configurations. One of the best options is the plug-in hybrid version. It gives you the most flexibility in terms of fueling options since you can plug it into recharge. The 2020 Ford Fusion comes with the BLIS package, which is Ford’s Blind-Spot Information System. The Fusion comes equipped with most of Ford’s safety and driver-assist systems to make driving much safer.

2020 Explorer Limited Hybrid

For SUV drivers, Ford is releasing the 2020 Explorer Limited Hybrid. The hybrid technology takes an already capable SUV and makes it better. The Explorer Limited Hybrid is the only SUV in its class with a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. The added range from the hybrid system, paired with an 18-galloon gas tank, gives it a range of up to 500 miles. With the collection of features from the Explorer’s Limited package, the Explorer Limited Hybrid will stand out among SUVs, and it’s the largest SUV in Ford’s hybrid collection.

2020 Escape SE Sport Hybrid

For a smaller SUV option, check out the 2020 Escape SE Sport Hybrid. It takes one of the higher trim packages for the Ford Escape and adds the 2.5-liter I-4 Atkinson-cycle powertrain used across Ford’s hybrid collection. One feature that makes the Escape SE Sport Hybrid different from Ford’s other hybrids is the positioning of the liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. It’s now outside the vehicle, under the second-row seat. That way, it won’t take up a lot of interior space so that passengers will be more comfortable and you’ll be able to carry more gear — plus, you’ll have room for a spare tire.

The Escape SE Sport Hybrid is also equipped with Ford’s eCVT, which has come a long way in recent years. It provides a much smoother ride with better efficiency to help give the Escape its long-range.

2021 Mach-E

Ford is currently working on a top-tier hybrid for its luxury sedan line. The 2021 Mach-E is still in the planning and testing phases. The design principles used to create its body will give it a futuristic look, while the powertrain is designed for high torque output. It’s expected to reach 60 mph in around three seconds.

As more people invest in hybrid models, more will become available for purchase. The newer hybrid models have many of the same features and performance stats as the other vehicles in Ford’s lineup. You don’t need to sacrifice speed, power, or style to buy a hybrid vehicle. With these Ford hybrids, you can have it all.
